At the beginning of 1990, K.D. Harris experienced a personal tragedy. His brother, Tony, who was 28 years of age, was tragically murdered. This event left a lasting impact upon Mr. Harris.
From 1990 to 1997, various participation in community service activities prompted our chairman to form an intelligent and competent staff of individuals with backgrounds in child care operations, people services, art designs, community service, clerical services, youth counseling, education, and academics.
Since October 1997, O.H.M.B. continues to recruit to youth between the ages of six to seventeen training and developing them in the areas of career preparation, civic participation, building self-esteem, communication skills, and a host of other valuable life skills to assist them in being successful and productive citizens.
In all of our efforts to continually improve our interacting with the public, O.H.M.B. is always committed to educating, motivating, and aspiring to build solid relationships with parents, youth, other organizations and the community at large.
About Our Executive Director
K. D. Harris is a product of Sacramento, California and Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Harris has been blessed to attain an impressive resume’ that reflects his extensive background experience in the fields of Marketing, Administration, People Services, and Counseling.
Embedded within his mixture of personal qualities is:
*** First the unique ability to appeal to the respectability in people from all walks of life ( never judging them).
*** Secondly, he brings to bear a remarkable talent of motivating others ( including youth) to excel in their various fields of social responsibility.
His philosophy of life is “ your life is your bond, never give up on it.”
As a minister of better than 17 and a half years, Mr. Harris understands the faith and favor that comes with helping others. Conversely, he gave up much of his youth oriented years to take the “call” on his life seriously at age 20.. Respectfully, our brother is now accepting of the fact that his unorthodox style and approach to life is just a natural tendency that His Maker has implanted within him for the advancement of the Kingdom building.
Having obtained an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Bachelor Degree in Theology, Mr. Harris is duly honored to be apart of several religious sects, namely SCLC, Baptist Ministerial Conference at Memphis, Tennessee, and the National Union of American Families.
In his travels he has been blessed to keep company on both coast with national leaders in Ministry, Social Areas, Civic Responsibility, and Governmental Services. He has been fortunate enough to rub shoulders with the likes of entertainers, professional athletes, actors, and some great speakers of our times. Yet, Mr. Harris remains one of the most understanding, giving, humble and impressionable individuals one can know.
His thought to live by is:
“ Never quit in your efforts to succeed,
but only as you follow the lowly Christ”
